The Design Process








You think you're going to make about 1,000 Decisions... Truth? It's more like 2,000 or more, depending on the size of your project.
It's overwhelming, and you don't want to make costly mistakes. You don't want to blow your budget. Ugggh this is a lot of work and you're stressing! Please don't.

Your Space + Style - Getting to Know Each Other + First Date(s)

You've been thinking of investing in your interior, you've been pinning and planning and dreaming and discussing and researching it all for a while now. Yay, how exciting!!! This is the first step! We'll have a meeting on site to scope your space and hear all about your design dreams and desires. I'll be asking lots of questions to get a good sense of your needs, your hopes, and your lifestyle in regards to your home. If possible, all decision makers should be available at our face-to-face meetings here in the beginning, so that everyone feels included, understood, and on-board from the beginning. During this phase, I'll collect photos, information and maybe even some measurements to create a comprehensive design estimate based on your project's needs and the budget you're working with. Shortly after our initial consultation, you'll receive a detailed estimate and proposal which clearly outlines the design goals and options for your specific project. 


Concept + Design Drill Down

This is where we get to begin the real creative process for you, and find out EXACTLY and UNIQUELY what you and your family truly want and need to support your lifestyle and build your home and memories together. We've got to carefully consider and discover your particular style(s) to build on... I call this the Design Drill Down and it's both fun and eye opening. I bet you've never done something like it before!!


Once we all agree and understand your project's unique components including personal aesthetic, architectural style, inspiration images and specific likes and dislikes, we dive into designing. We'll get started by space planning and developing an ideal layout for everything from interior walls (for full remodels) to accent furniture and accessories. This acts as our road map for the design evolution to take place. We'll pull together photographs of individual pieces and materials for your styleboards to reflect the vibe and direction of the design plan so you can see it start to come together and feel really comfortable with the decisions you're making. I know these are big, sometimes hard decisions to make, and I'm here to help guide these decisions and make the process way way more streamlined and easier for you. And hopefully more fun, too! My goal is to always deliver a space you'll love that you're going to love for a long LONG time!


I'll present these styleboards and materials to you along with full furniture plans and a working budget of all proposed items in another face-to-face meeting.


Design Details + Development

After our initial design presentation, there's typically a back-and-forth period for modifications of specific materials or pieces - for example, if you have a dog that sheds and decide you need a leather sofa but we proposed a fabric problem, we'll find an alternative! You get lots of input as we guide along the process, and everything is tailored to create YOUR dream home that supports YOUR lifestyle, stories, hopes + dreams... Not mine. I'm here to navigate that path, give creative + professional advise based on my education and experiences, and make it all happen (Project Management) with hands-on attention to detail so it goes smoothly and correctly!


During this developmental stage, we'll finish finalizing the design and massaging the budget until we have every corner of your space accounted for. We'll continue to send you updated floor and furniture plans, styleboards and proposals according to the changes that get made along the way, so you know exactly where the project stands and what you'll be seeing in the final reveal. So. Exciting!!


Purchasing, Project Management, Installation + Your Big Reveal!

When you've approved everything we've presented, it's time to get to buying. I'll turn proposals into invoices, collect payments for purchases and then purchase all materials and products needed for your makeover or remodel. After ordering is complete, I also facilitate the scheduling of deliveries with the vendors and carriers to ensure all pieces are accounted for and arrive in time. During this phase, I'll bring in a dedicated and trusty team of contractors and subcontractors to quote and complete any construction work that's needed. These particular contractors have been vetted and researched to make sure they can handle the job(s) at hand, and not leave your home in the hands of anyone inexperienced or questionable. (If you have a particular contractor or subcontractor you really want to work with, that's fine too... We'll talk about that in a case-by-case basis and I'll have a simple disclosure form for you to sign stating who we'll be working with on your project.)


After the dust is cleared and packages are delivered comes the best part - installation day! I'll bring in my team to style and set everything up just the way we imagined it, including all accessories, furniture and art. We'll take some photographs and give you the coveted HGTV-like experience of your 

B I G   R E V E A L ! ! ! It's really fun, a great celebration for the completion of your project.

Just before I'm out the door, I'll have aftercare instructions + best practices for you, along with all the specifications, materials, and work that went into your project in a neatly organized reference binder for your records and any future needs you may have. Easy to store away, find and access, it's the best way to be able to grab more of this fabric or that paint color, etc.
